The 2009 National Federation of State High School Associations
Prior to commencement of the game, head coaches must state to the officials that they have taught the rules of play with emphasis on personal fouls and agree to abide by the CONNY Code of Conduct. Officials must state that they have read and understand the CONNY Rules of Bantam Play.
Officials should “call it tight” to keep the game under control.
Bantam Division Eligibility:
Players must meet both CONNY regulations. They must be:
1) Under age 9 on the December 31st preceding the start of the season, and
2) Not members of a team from another CONNY-member program.
Bantam Division Philosophy:
Non-competitive (no official scorekeeping, no standings, no post-season tournament leading to a championship, no overtime play) and instructional. Grades may play together. Multiple teams within a program should be balanced.
NFHS Rule 1-1. The Game—Number of Players
10 players per side on the field; however games can be played with as few as 7 per side on the field if coaches agree. The CONNY principle is to maximize each player’s touches and participation in the play of the game. Therefore, CONNY encourages Bantam coaches to play 7-on-7 or 8-on-8 contests whenever possible.
NFHS Rule 1-6. Crosse Dimensions
The length of the crosse may be 37 to 42 inches. No exceptions, except for the goalkeeper’s crosse, which may be 37 to 60 inches long.
NFHS Rules 1-6, 1-7, 1-8, 1-9. Player Equipment, Helmet, Face Mask
All players are required to wear protective gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads, shoes, mouthpieces, cups, jerseys, and helmets.Rib pads are strongly recommended.
In addition, goalies MUST wear chest pads, throat guards, shin guards, and knee pads. Thigh pads are recommended for goalies.
CONNY recommends NOCSAE-approved lacrosse helmets, but HECC-approved hockey helmets are allowed. Programs are urged to achieve 100% NOCSAE compliance as soon as possible. Color requirements for mouthpieces and helmets, etc. are waived.
NFHS Rules 2-4, 2-8, 2-9. Responsibility of the Home Team
a. In the event that the uniform jerseys of two teams are too close in color, the home team should supply and wear contrasting color jerseys. These may be unnumbered mesh practice jerseys.
[Recommendation — Bantam programs should issue reversible tank-top jerseys with a dark and light side and with numbers on the back to aid in officiating the game and to help parents identify their children.]
b. The home team will supply all equipment for the officials (i.e., horn, clock/stopwatches, etc.).
c. CONNY recommends the use of certified officials, if possible. High school students aged 16 and older may officiate Bantam games if they complete a US Lacrosse or CONNY apprentice official training clinic, pass the CONNY Online Rules Test, and are properly equipped. In the event a certified official or properly qualified high school student official is not available, each team should provide one official for the contest.
d. The goal of Bantam play is instructional. Thus, each team is encouraged to have one coach on the field providing instruction during play. Whenever possible, the same person should not act as both an official and an instructor. The goal is to provide instruction while not disrupting the flow of the game.
NFHS Rule 3-1. Time Factors and Scoring
Contests shall be four quarters of 15 minutes running time each with no overtime. The clock stops for injuries and timeouts. Quarters can be lengthened with mutual agreement of the coaches prior to the start of the game.
NFHS Rule 4. Play of the Game
The game is to be played with emphasis on the proper development of stick, team, and sportsmanship skills.
NFHS Rule 4-3. Face Off
Although official score is not kept, if at any point during a game it appears that the score is lop-sided, (an apparent 4-goal lead) the team that appears to be trailing will be given the ball at the midfield line in lieu of a face-off until the apparent lead is less than four goals. This rule can be waived at any time by the trailing coach. [Recommendation – The spirit of good sportsmanship must be a part of all contests, particularly those where teams are mismatched. If a mismatch becomes apparent, CONNY urges the coaches of the stronger team to employ unobtrusive stratagems to “level the playing field,” while not embarrassing the opponent. Use of a three attempted pass rule prior to shooting on goal, substitution for stronger players, repositioning of stronger players, etc. all should be considered.]
NFHS Rules 4-14 & 4-15. Advancing the Ball
No 10-second or 20-second counts shall apply to Bantam play.
NFHS Rules 4-21. Ball Out Of Play
Add: If the ball is not moving in a scrum, the game official will blow the whistle and re-start play using the alternate possession rule.
NFHS Rules 4-28. Team Time-Outs
A team shall be limited to four team nonconsecutive time-outs per game, with no more than two taken in any half.
NFHS Rules 4-16 & 5-3. Body Checking
NO BODY CHECKS OF ANY KIND ARE PERMITTED IN BANTAM PLAY.Incidental body contact is the only type of contact permitted at the Bantam level. This includes no man/ball, or clear-the-body type of pushing.
NFHS Rules 5-2 & 5-6. Stick Checks
THE ONLY LEGAL STICK CHECK IN BANTAM PLAY IS A POKE CHECK TO THE CROSSE OR THE GLOVED HAND ON THE CROSSE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
a. Any poke check not making contact with the gloved hand holding the stick or the stick itself shall be considered a slash.
b. Any one-handed check shall be considered a slash.
c. Slap checks are not permitted and are considered slashes.
d. Contact on an opponent’s body by any part of a defender’s crosse that is between his two hands on his crosse is a cross check and illegal.(CONNY Interpretation, NFHS Rule 5-2)
NFHS Rule 5-9. Unsportsmanlike Conduct/Foul Language/Excessive Penalties
a. Unsportsmanlike Conduct fouls are three-minute non-releasable penalties in all cases.

b. A second Unsportsmanlike Conduct foul results in expulsion.
(NFHS Rule 5-11 ART 3)
c. Any player with an excessive number of personal fouls will be asked to sit out of the game for a reasonable period of time. Coaches and officials should define excessive and reasonable prior to the start of the game.
(Changes NFHS Rule 5-10)
NFHS Rule 6-10. Offensive Stalling
No offensive stalling rule.
NFHS Rule 7. Penalty Enforcement
There will be no time-serving penalties and no extra-man-offense or man-down-defense in Bantam play.
Instead, a fast break shall be awarded to the player against whom the foul was committed. The fouled player shall be awarded the ball at the "X" at the center of the field, the appropriate attackmen, defensemen, and goalkeeper shall be in the penalized team’s Defensive Area, and all other players shall be behind the penalized team’s offensive end Goal Area Line (formerly called Restraining Line). At the whistle, the player with the ball may advance to try to execute a four-on-three fast break. Also at the whistle, all other players are released to join the play.
In the case of personal fouls only, the player committing the foul must leave the field, but may be replaced.

2010 BOYS RULES of PLAY
For Lightning, Juniors and Seniors
The National Federation of State High School Associations 2010 Boys Lacrosse Rules Book shall govern play, except as herein amended.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HOME TEAM
a. The home team will supply all equipment for the officials (i.e., horn, clock/stopwatches, etc.).
b. The home team has the responsibility to provide at least one certified CT or NY high school official or college official at each CONNY league game. (The CONNY Rules Committee and Sportsmanship and Safety Committee urge programs to provide two officials for Senior games whenever possible.) In the event that certified high school or college officials are not available, the head coaches of the teams scheduled to play may agree on non-certified officials such as high school coaches in the states of Connecticut or New York or other qualified persons. Each team shall select one official. In the event both teams elect to play without certified officials, the game will be a binding league game. NOTE: If both teams do not agree to play without certified officials, failure to provide a certified official is not grounds for a forfeit; member programs should make every effort to reschedule the game.
c. High school students aged 16 and older may serve as officials for CONNY Senior or Junior games so long as they (1) work with an otherwise qualified adult official, (2) complete a US Lacrosse or CONNY apprentice officials clinic, (3) pass the 2010 CONNY Online Rules Test, and (4) are properly equipped. Under no circumstances will high school students be the only officials working a CONNY Senior or Junior game. High school students aged 16 and older may officiate Lightning games if they complete a US Lacrosse or CONNY apprentice officials clinic, pass the CONNY Online Rules Test, and are properly equipped.
d. Unless both head coaches agree otherwise before the game, no game official may be a parent or member of the immediate family of a player in the contest, even if that parent or family member is in other respects qualified (e.g., is a certified official).
RULE 1-2-11 Spectator and Media Restrictions
Paragraphs (a)-(c) are unchanged. Add paragraph (d).
d. Spectators must be on the side of the field opposite the bench area or in permanent stands separated from the bench area by a barrier and a buffer distance such as a track.
RULE 1-6 Crosse-Dimensions
RULE 2-1 Number Designation of Players
RULE 5-4 Illegal Crosse
In Junior play only, a long crosse shall be 42 to 62 inches. In Lightning play only, a short crosse shall be 37 to 42 inches, a long crosse shall be 42 to 52 inches, and a team may have a maximum of three players using long crosses, not counting the goalkeeper’s crosse, in the game at any time.
RULE 1-9 Player Equipment
ARTICLE 1, Paragraphs a & b, Helmet and Face Mask: CONNY urges each member organization to institute a program to achieve 100% NOCSAE compliance as soon as practicable, but does not require the use of NOCSAE approved helmets and face masks for the 2010 season. Hockey helmets and face guards are allowed so long as they are HECC approved.
CONNY urges adherence to the jersey requirements of Rule 1-9-1g, paragraphs 1 through 6, in 2010, but will not penalize failure to do so.
CONNY changes Rule 1-9-1g, paragraph 7 to read: “In the event that the uniform jerseys of two teams are too close in color, the home team must supply and wear contrasting color jerseys. These may be unnumbered mesh practice jerseys.”
CONNY changes RULE 1-9-1j to require arm pads for all players (including goalkeepers).
CONNY will not enforce color requirements under Rule 1-9 for helmets, mouthpieces, gloves, uniform shorts, under-jerseys, compression shorts, etc.
RULE 1-13 Officials Certification (CONNY Rule)
Before the start of the game, the referee shall certify to both head coaches that he understands and will enforce the changes to the NFHS 2010 Boys Lacrosse Rules Book included in these CONNY Boys Rules of Play.
RULE 3-1 Length of Game
The regulation playing time (stopping time) of a Senior League (U-15) or a Junior League (U-13) game shall be four periods of 10 minutes.
The regulation playing time (running time) of a Lightning League (U-11) game shall be four periods of 15-minutes each, with the clock stopping for injuries and timeouts; penalties shall be stopping time. NOTE: This rule does not prevent teams from increasing playing time opportunities by playing “extra” periods after recording the final score.
Article 2 of this rule (the 12-goal running time mercy rule) shall not apply to CONNY play.
RULE 3-4 Sudden Victory Overtime
For CONNY regular season league play, add the following to this rule:
If the score is still tied after two sudden victory overtimes, the game shall be considered a draw. (This change from NFHS RULE 3-4 will not apply to CONNY Tournament games.) For Lightning play only, overtime periods shall be 8-minutes running time; the clock stops for injuries and timeouts.
RULE 4-3 Facing Off
For CONNY regular season league play, add CONNY ARTICLE 6 to this rule:
Any time the goal differential reaches six (6) or more goals, in lieu of a face-off after a score (but not at the start of a quarter), the trailing team will be awarded possession of the ball at the center of the field, unless to coach of the trailing team elects to continue facing off.
(This change from NFHS RULE 4-3 will not apply to CONNY Tournament games.)
RULE 4-23-2 Regular Substitution Prohibitions
CONNY will not enforce this rule in regular season play. The change permits regular substitutions when play has been suspended because the ball has gone out of bounds along either end line. (This change from NFHS RULE 4-23 will not apply to CONNY Tournament games.)
RULE 4-28 Team Timeouts
Change this rule to permit three (3) team nonconsecutive timeouts each half instead of four per game.
(For CONNY Tournament games only, one of the three timeouts each half must be a 20-second timeout.)
RULE 5-3 Illegal Body Check
Articles 1-6 are unchanged, except that CONNY interprets all spearing as “vicious,” and thus requires that it must be assessed a three-minute non-releasable penalty in all cases (Article 6). Add CONNY Articles “7” and “8.”
Illegal body checking includes the following actions:
Article 7. Take-out checks. Definition—Take-out check: Checks in which the player lowers his head or shoulder with the force and intent to take out (put on the ground) the other player. Players may make contact in an upright position within five yards of the ball. (See US Lacrosse Youth Council Boys Rules at the back of the NFHS 2010 Boys Lacrosse Rules Book.)
Article 8. For Lightning play only, body checks of any kind, except as provided in this rule. This means that in Lightning play, CONNY allows
NO BODY CHECKING; the ONLY exception is that a player may BUMP or SCREEN an opposing player from the ball in a man/ball or ground ball situation. The purpose of this rule is not to prohibit the normal defensive play of the game, nor does it prohibit a player from applying legal hold checks as provided under NFHS Rule 6-3, Article 3, Paragraphs (a) and (b), or legal pushes as provided under NFHS Rule 6-9.
RULE 5-6 Slashing
Articles 1-3 are unchanged. Add “Note 1”to Article 3 and CONNY “Article 4.” Slashing includes the following actions:
Article 3, Note 1: Article 3 states, “In all situations, the player's gloved hand on his own crosse shall be considered part of his crosse except when in contact with a line marking.” In the context of RULE 5-6 for CONNY play, this means that the ONLY permissible check with the crosse is on the opponent's crosse or his gloved hand on his own crosse. STRIKING AN OPPONENT WITH THE CROSSE ANYWHERE EXCEPT ON HIS CROSSE OR HIS GLOVED HAND ON HIS OWN CROSSE IS SLASHING!This interpretation is a special point of emphasis for the CONNY Sportsmanship and Safety Committee and CONNY Rules Committee in 2010, especially for Lightning play.
Article 4. Swinging the crosse at an opponent's crosse or body while holding the crosse with only one hand. For all checks, both hands must be on the crosse. Any check delivered while holding the crosse with only one hand shall be considered slashing.
RULE 5-9 Unsportsmanlike Conduct
CONNY instructs game officials to enforce strictly NFHS Rule 5-9, UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT, especially Article 1, paragraphs a, b, and c which cover arguing with officials, use of inappropriate language, and baiting and taunting. The CONNY policy is ZERO TOLERANCE! Head coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, coaching staffs and other sideline personnel, and supporting spectators.
CONNY Interpretation: Violations of NFHS Rule 5-9, Article 1, paragraphs a, b, and c, are three-minute non-releasable penalties in all cases.
RULE 6-10 Stalling
Article 1. Change to read:
A team in possession of the ball anywhere in its offensive half of the field may be warned to “get it in and keep it in.” This warning shall be made when it is obvious that a team is keeping the ball from play. When a team outside its attack area is warned to “get it in and keep it in,” the official nearest the player in possession of the ball will give that player an audible and visual ten-second count. If at the end of the count the team has not brought the ball into its attack area, stalling shall be called and possession of the ball awarded to the defending team at the spot where the ball was when the whistle blew. After being warned and, if necessary, bringing the ball into its attack area, stalling shall be called if the team runs or passes the ball out of its attack area during that possession.
Article 3. CONNY will not enforce RULE 6-10-3 or RULE 3-3Final Two Minutes of Regulation Play or RULE 4-15 Advancing the Ball into the Attack-Goal Area, except during the final two minutes of Senior and Junior regulation play.
RULE 6-13 Defensive Stalling (CONNY Rule)
CONNY will not enforce RULE 4-14 Advancing the Ball Beyond the Midfield Line. Instead, CONNY RULE 6-13 shall apply as follows:
It shall be the initial responsibility of the clearing team to clear the ball. In stalling situations in the defensive half of the field, the official nearest the player in possession of the ball will give that player an audible and a visual five-second count. If at the end of the count the team still has not attempted to clear the ball or moved the ball within five yards of the opposing team, that team shall be warned to “clear the ball.” If the team does not immediately attempt to clear the ball or move the ball within five yards of the opposing team, stalling shall be called and possession of the ball awarded to the opposing team.
RULE 7-2 Penalty Time
Game officials are urged to designate particularly severe or violent personal fouls, or those they perceive to be intended to intimidate or injure an opponent, as non-releasable and to add additional non-releasable penalty time as they deem appropriate.

In Junior play only, a long crosse shall be 42 to 62 inches. In Lightning play only, a short crosse shall be 37 to 42 inches, a long crosse shall be 42 to 52 inches, and a team may have a maximum of three players using long crosses, not counting the goalkeeper’s crosse, in the game at any time.
RULE 1-9 Player Equipment
ARTICLE 1, Paragraphs a & b, Helmet and Face Mask: CONNY urges each member organization to institute a program to achieve 100% NOCSAE compliance as soon as practicable, but does not require the use of NOCSAE approved helmets and face masks for the 2009 season. Hockey helmets and face guards are allowed so long as they are HECC approved.
CONNY urges adherence to the jersey requirements of Rule 1-9-1g, paragraphs 1 through 6, in 2009, but will not penalize failure to do so.
CONNY changes Rule 1-9-1g, paragraph 7 to read: “In the event that the uniform jerseys of two teams are too close in color, the home team must supply and wear contrasting color jerseys. These may be unnumbered mesh practice jerseys.”
CONNY changes RULE 1-9-1j to require arm pads for all players (including goalkeepers).
CONNY will not enforce color requirements under Rule 1-9 for helmets, mouthpieces, gloves, uniform shorts, under-jerseys, compression shorts, etc.
RULE 1-13 Officials Certification (CONNY Rule)
Before the start of the game, the referee shall certify to both head coaches that he understands and will enforce the changes to the NFHS 2009 Boys Lacrosse Rules Book included in these CONNY Boys Rules of Play.
RULE 3-1 Length of Game
The regulation playing time (stopping time) of a Senior League (U-15) or a Junior League (U-13) game shall be four periods of 10 minutes.
The regulation playing time (running time) of a Lightning League (U-11) game shall be four periods of 15-minutes each, with the clock stopping for injuries and timeouts; penalties shall be stopping time.
NOTE: This rule does not prevent teams from increasing playing time opportunities by playing “extra” periods after recording the final score.
Article 2 of this rule (the 12-goal running time mercy rule) shall not apply to CONNY play.
RULE 3-4 Sudden Victory Overtime
For CONNY regular season league play, add the following to this rule:
If the score is still tied after two sudden victory overtimes, the game shall be considered a draw. (This change from NFHS RULE 3-4 will not apply to CONNY Tournament games.) For Lightning play only, overtime periods shall be 8-minutes running time; the clock stops for injuries and timeouts.
RULE 4-3 Facing Off
For CONNY regular season league play, add CONNY ARTICLE 6 to this rule:
Any time the goal differential reaches six (6) or more goals, in lieu of a face-off after a score (but not at the start of a quarter), the trailing team will be awarded possession of the ball at the center of the field, unless to coach of the trailing team elects to continue facing off.
(This change from NFHS RULE 4-3 will not apply to CONNY Tournament games.)
RULE 4-23-2 Regular Substitution Prohibitions
CONNY will not enforce this rule in regular season play. The change permits regular substitutions when play has been suspended because the ball has gone out of bounds along either end line. (This change from NFHS RULE 4-23 will not apply to CONNY Tournament games.)
RULE 4-28 Team Timeouts
Change this rule to permit three (3) team nonconsecutive timeouts each half instead of four per game.
(For CONNY Tournament games only, one of the three timeouts each half must be a 20-second timeout.)
RULE 5-3 Illegal Body Check
Articles 1-6 are unchanged, except that CONNY interprets all spearing as “vicious,” and thus requires that it must be assessed a three-minute non-releasable penalty in all cases (Article 6). Add CONNY Articles “7” and “8.”
Illegal body checking includes the following actions:
Article 7. Take-out checks. Definition—Take-out check: Checks in which the player lowers his head or shoulder with the force and intent to take out (put on the ground) the other player. Players may make contact in an upright position within five yards of the ball. (See US Lacrosse Youth Council Boys Rules at the back of the NFHS 2009 Boys Lacrosse Rules Book.)
Article 8. For Lightning play only, body checks of any kind, except as provided in this rule. This means that in Lightning play, CONNY allows
NO BODY CHECKING; the ONLY exception is that a player may BUMP or SCREEN an opposing player from the ball in a man/ball or ground ball situation. The purpose of this rule is not to prohibit the normal defensive play of the game, nor does it prohibit a player from applying legal hold checks as provided under NFHS Rule 6-3, Article 3, Paragraphs (a) and (b), or legal pushes as provided under NFHS Rule 6-9.
RULE 5-6 Slashing
Articles 1-3 are unchanged. Add “Note 1”to Article 3 and CONNY “Article 4.” Slashing includes the following actions:
Article 3, Note 1: Article 3 states, “In all situations, the player's gloved hand on his own crosse shall be considered part of his crosse except when in contact with a line marking.” In the context of RULE 5-6 for CONNY play, this means that the ONLY permissible check with the crosse is on the opponent's crosse or his gloved hand on his own crosse. STRIKING AN OPPONENT WITH THE CROSSE ANYWHERE EXCEPT ON HIS CROSSE OR HIS GLOVED HAND ON HIS OWN CROSSE IS SLASHING!This interpretation is a special point of emphasis for the CONNY Sportsmanship, Safety, and Training Committee and CONNY Rules Committee in 2009, especially for Lightning play.
Article 4. Swinging the crosse at an opponent's crosse or body while holding the crosse with only one hand. For all checks, both hands must be on the crosse. Any check delivered while holding the crosse with only one hand shall be considered slashing.
RULE 5-9 Unsportsmanlike Conduct
CONNY instructs game officials to enforce strictly NFHS Rule 5-9, UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT, especially Article 1, paragraphs a, b, and c which cover arguing with officials, use of inappropriate language, and baiting and taunting. The policy is ZERO TOLERANCE! Head coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, coaching staffs and other sideline personnel, and supporting spectators.
CONNY Interpretation: Violations of NFHS Rule 5-9, Article 1, paragraphs a, b, and c, are three-minute non-releasable penalties in all cases.
RULE 6-10 Offensive Stalling
Article 1. Change to read:
A team in possession of the ball anywhere in its offensive half of the field may be warned to “get it in and keep it in.” This warning shall be made when it is obvious that a team is keeping the ball from play. When a team outside its attack area is warned to “get it in and keep it in,” the official nearest the player in possession of the ball will give that player an audible and visual ten-second count. If at the end of the count the team has not brought the ball into its attack area, stalling shall be called and possession of the ball awarded to the defending team at the spot where the ball was when the whistle blew. After being warned and, if necessary, bringing the ball into its attack area, stalling shall be called if the team runs or passes the ball out of its attack area during that posession.
CONNY will not enforce RULE 3-3, Final Two Minutes of Regulation Play, RULE 4-15 Advancing the Ball into the Attack-Goal Area, and RULE 6-10-2c Offensive Stalling, except during the final two minutes of Senior and Junior regulation play.
RULE 6-13 Defensive Stalling (CONNY Rule)
CONNY will not enforce RULE 4-14 Advancing the Ball Beyond the Midfield Line. Instead, CONNY RULE 6-13 shall apply as follows:
It shall be the initial responsibility of the clearing team to clear the ball. In stalling situations in the defensive half of the field, the official nearest the player in possession of the ball will give that player an audible and a visual five-second count. If at the end of the count the team still has not attempted to clear the ball or moved the ball within five yards of the opposing team, that team shall be warned to “clear the ball.” If the team does not immediately attempt to clear the ball or move the ball within five yards of the opposing team, stalling shall be called and possession of the ball awarded to the opposing team.
RULE 7-2 Penalty Time
Game officials are urged to designate particularly severe or violent personal fouls, or those they perceive to be intended to injure or intimidate an opponent, as non-releasable and to add additional non-releasable penalty time as they deem appropriate.

2008 BOYS RULES of PLAY
The National Federation of State High School Associations 2008 Boys Lacrosse Rules Book shall govern play, except as herein amended.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HOME TEAM
a. The home team will supply all equipment for the officials (i.e., horn, clock/stopwatches, etc.).
b. The home team has the responsibility to provide at least one certified CT or NY high school official or college official at each CONNY league game. In the event that certified high school or college officials are not available, the head coaches of the teams scheduled to play may agree on non-certified officials such as high school coaches in the states of Connecticut or New York or other qualified persons. Each team shall select one official. In the event both teams elect to play without certified officials, the game will be a binding league game. NOTE: If both teams do not agree to play without certified officials, failure to provide a certified official is not grounds for a forfeit; member programs should make every effort to reschedule the game.
c. High school juniors and seniors may serve as officials for CONNY Senior or Junior games so long as they (1) work with an otherwise qualified adult official, (2) complete a US Lacrosse or CONNY apprentice officials clinic, (3) pass the 2008 CONNY Online Rules Test, and (4) are properly equipped. Under no circumstances will high school students be the only officials working a CONNY Senior or Junior game. High school students may officiate Lightning games if they complete a US Lacrosse or CONNY apprentice officials clinic, pass the CONNY Online Rules Test, and are properly equipped.
d. Unless both head coaches agree otherwise before the game, no game official may be a parent or member of the immediate family of a player in the contest, even if that parent or family member is in other respects qualified (e.g., is a certified official).
RULE 1-2-11 Spectator and Media Restrictions
Paragraphs (a)-(c) are unchanged. Add paragraph (d).
d. Spectators must be on the side of the field opposite the bench area or in permanent stands separated from the bench area by a barrier and a buffer distance such as a track.
